Sunset students attend the William Allen White ceremony in Emporia.

Sunset students enjoyed a day with other Salina students in Emporia at the William Allen White ceremony festivities. The group enjoyed meeting author Katherine Applegate and getting her autograph.

Students got the opportunity to see both the 3rd-5th grade author and 6th-8th grade author get awarded the William Allen White award medal hear their speeches. Additionally, they toured William Allen White's house and heard how much his work and family impacted Kansas.

The day ended with some free time at Peter Pan Park, which is land that White and his family donated to the city of Emporia in memory of their daughter.
